I set up this Mac for her last year and everything was working properly, though issues with Outlook seem to crop up all the time. My mother is not a tinkerer so it's very unlikely she changed anything in her settings. There is a 'Trash' folder in AOL but in Outlook it says 'Deleted Items' - is that normal?
#Microsoft outlook not working in mac mail archive
I wasn't able to screen shot these but I recall they mentioned the Trash, Junk and Archive folders. We've never seen this error before on her system. There were several "Create failed.Mailbox exists" pop-up errors. This kept happening with the oldest emails in the Inbox despite being deleted several times over we had to log in to webmail on AOL to get them to go away permanently. Deleted emails would return even after Deleted Items was emptied.Eventually all the emails would return once the account reconnected. I was able to witness this and usually the account OFFLINE symbol would appear next to the Inbox as well. This happens while she's clicking on an email or just letting it sit idle. The entire Inbox suddenly goes EMPTY and the "All done for the day!" balloons show up.She's been trying to clean out her Inbox (300+ emails since January) but a series of weird things have happened:

In the last couple of days my Mom's email account has been acting really screwy. The email account is an old Verizon account that has jumped through several hoops it's now hosted as an IMAP account via AOL. I'm out of state and trying to diagnose the problem remotely over the phone and screen sharing. Quick background: this is on my Mother's computer, an M1 MacBook Air running Ventura. Wish I could say it wasn’t necessary but for now that’s the best solution. Switching to the NEW Outlook seems to solve all the issues.
